My Body is Jealous. Hyperice Adds Heat to their Normatec Legs

Dang these are dope. Meet the Normatec Elite Heat Legs: five levels of heat, seven levels of compression, zero hoses.

Dang. This right here is the dream.

We’ve been Normatec people for a while and strongly consider their stuff to be the gold standard of recovery equipment. The Hyperice Normatec 3s have lived in our bedroom for years and gotten me through massive rides, runs, and huge training blocks. They’re not the sexiest thing in our bedroom but they’ve never let me down. They’ve also never once warmed our legs purposely, though they sometimes did anyway because I was gross and sweaty. But I always wanted them to heat because after a long session, there is nothing better. That to me was the missing link.

Today, Hyperice announced the Normatec Elite Heat Legs, the first Normatec to bake heat straight into its dynamic air compression.

What’s New?

Heat, finally. They recently introduced heat with the Nike x Hyperice which was our favorite thing about those slides. But this is completely different.

HyperHeat™ technology runs through the boots with five levels from 102 to 125°F (39 to 52°C). It’s meant to help activate muscles, boost circulation, and soothe soreness. Think of this being a warm hug for your quads.

Seven Levels of Compression. This isn’t new as my 3’s also have seven but what is nice is the fact that you can dial in anywhere from 40 to 110 mmHg across five overlapping zones with gapless coverage.

No Hoses, or Control Unit. This is the best part because my Normatec 3’s are like trying to wrestle an octopus. Two hoses going opposite ways, all controlled by a big old weighted block. Very annoying. For these, everything is built into the boots with expected battery life being up to 1 hour on max heat and compression, or up to 10 hours on compression only. You can also use them while charging, so no more excuses.

Other Smart Features

  • HyperSync™ mimics the massage pattern on both legs automatically, or lets you run separate sessions on each leg.
  • ZoneBoost™ gives extra time and pressure to whichever zone is screaming at you to fix.
  • Deflate Button. Have you ever had these on and needed to pee and just try to wait it out? With this new button, it releases air fast so you can get out of your boots even faster.
  • Bluetooth. Connect to the Hyperice App and control everything from your phone.
  • TSA-Approved. These are way oversized but if you need to, bring with you to a race and don’t worry about the pesky TSA giving you crap. Because comfort is king.

When Should You Wear These?

This is an aside but when is the best time to wear these? We recently caught up with renowned PT and run coach Doug Adams, who told us to use compression right after a workout to get the most recovery benefit.

But we’ll be honest: our favorite place to use ours is in bed and now that heats involved, I can’t thing of any better place. Heat plus compression plus a horizontal human watching some Apple TV is a hard combo to beat. Heat also means these aren’t just a post-run tool anymore. Hyperice is positioning them for warming up before activity too, so you’ve got options.

Should we ever get the chance, we’ll have a full hands-on review but honestly, given we own and love the Hyperice Normatec 3’s and these only seem to be upgraded in all the right places, it feels like a huge W if you’re in the market. Treat yo self!
