🚨 Front Pack App Design mockups 🚨, V02 in Women, Strava Stranger Danger, and more…

👋 Good morning and happy Friday! Welcome to the Front Pack newsletter, your source for all things endurance. Click here for the web edition.

Following this week’s Olympic triathlon event that saw athletes using road bikes and legal drafting to their advantage, I got into a spirited debate if this was the way triathlon should be? There are leagues where this is the norm but for arguments sake, across the board, is this the way triathlon should be? My argument was no, I like the individuality of the sport, TT bikes and NO drafting, where athletes truly showcase what they’re made of versus using the tactics and strategy you see when relying on others. What do you think?

The Bizz: I’m over the freaking moon excited about having some Front Pack app design mockups. Not on Apple or Google yet because we’re still working on kinks, getting approvals and making edits but it’s all starting to feel more real and it is glorious. Have any feedback? Let me know!

As always, thanks for subscribing and let’s close out the week with a 💥.

Stay moving…✌🏼 Scott

🚴🏃 How Women’s VO2 Max Differs from Men’s: Love seeing this. Over the last decade, most studies have focused on males but over the last year I feel like our female athletes are getting more attention. Took forever but happy to see. This study focuses on V02 Max and how differently women and men are. One interesting finding, male data suggests age-related declines in VO2max were primarily related to declines in central factors like the heart and circulatory system, while peripheral factors like the ability of muscle to use oxygen stayed relatively constant. But that’s not what they found here: both central and peripheral factors seemed to decline at similar rates in women. Read more…
