Nike ACG Loves Picklejus

The GOATEK-powered Picklejus brings dual-density ZoomX foam and serious wet-traction gains to big-mountain running.

Nike ACG just dropped the Picklejus, and we need a minute, because this might be the best shoe name in trail running, ever.

Yes, it’s a real product and yes, Nike named it after pickle juice, the near-mythical cramp-fighting elixir everyone loves when its cold and tolerates when its warm. Funny enough, squint your eyes and the rocker profile is even shaped like a pickle.

Good, no. great work by Nike’s visual team here. The colorway ties it all together, bravo.

Underneath the fun, this is a genuinely loaded announcement, so let’s get into it.

The Details

Picklejus is the first ACG shoe built through the Nike Sport Research Lab. The midsole is Nike’s first co-molded, dual-density supercritical foam platform made specifically for trail — a soft ZoomX core for cushioning and efficiency, wrapped in a firmer perimeter ring that acts like a stability plate.

The idea is simple, even if the foam engineering is a bit more complicated. Protect you on the descents without costing you efficiency on the climbs, so you’re not choosing between the two.

That’s paired with GOATEK, ACG’s new proprietary outsole platform, which Nike says delivers a 45 percent increase in wet traction and 25 percent greater abrasion resistance over its previous all-terrain outsoles.

Like most, you gotta do some testing too and Nike highlights they put real miles behind that claim with five rounds of wear-testing across more than 18,000 test miles on rugged mountain terrain.

Round it out with a trail-tuned Flyknit upper using hydrophobic yarns to shed water weight, knit containment cables for a locked-down fit, and a gaiter-inspired cuff to keep debris out, and you’ve got a shoe built specifically for long days in the mountains. Since they announced this at UTMB, think Chamonix-style terrain or The Rut; not your local greenbelt with hundreds of feet of vert.

Where this Fits in the Trail Ecosystem

Picklejus isn’t landing until late 2027, so this is very much a “here’s what’s coming” moment rather than a “go buy this” moment. But it’s a good signal for where ACG is headed. Since December of 2025, they’ve consistently been putting out more and more and pushing the edges of what’s possible. Love to see them back treating trail running as a serious performance category worthy of its own research lab attention, not just an aesthetic extension of the ACG outdoor line.

We’ll be watching and for the love of god, trying to get Nike & ACG PR to put some respect on our name for more news and product announcements.

Until then, we’re just happy a major brand let a little personality, and a very bright shade of green into a shoe this technical.
