Canyon Refreshes the Grizl AL for Gravel Riders who Want it All

Canyon’s most versatile (and best priced) gravel bike just got lighter, and better. Plus, it can carry everything…

Canyon just dropped a new generation of its Grizl AL, and it’s for anyone who wants one gravel bike to handle everything from the singletrack commute to a multi-day loaded tour. It wont be the fastest but its going to be durable.

The new aluminum frame sheds 120 grams compared to its predecessor, but it doesn’t look like Canyon sacrificed toughness to get there. The geometry and build are really specific to comfort and a long time in the saddle. Tire clearance is where this bike slaps. It ships with 45mm tires, but the frame can accommodate up to 54mm, or a 2.1-inch mountain bike tire for riders who want real off-road capability or are terrified of pinch flats.

Practicality gets a serious upgrade too. Canyon added more mounting points throughout the frame to support racks, cargo cages, bottles, and a front “pizza” rack for big loads. It’s also compatible with Canyon’s DEFEND Fast Fenders for wet-weather riding.

For those who prioritize easy maintenance, the Grizl AL sticks with external cable routing, a standard 1 1/8-inch steerer, and a threaded T47 bottom bracket. The aluminum bars add 16° of flare for better descending control, which if you’ve never descended when you’re front loaded, can be terrifying.

The lineup runs three models:

  • Grizl 5 — Shimano CUES 1x with hydraulic disc brakes, €1,299
  • Grizl 6 — SRAM Apex 1×12 and Schwalbe G-One RX tubeless-ready tyres, €1,799
  • Grizl 7 ESC — Full Mounty cockpit, VCLS 2.0 flex seatpost, Shimano RX610 GRX shifting, €1,999

All three are available across seven frame sizes (2XS–2XL) and can be ordered through Canyon’s website or app.

This release follows the second-generation Grizl CF carbon model that launched during the 2025 season. With the AL refresh, Canyon is clearly positioning the full Grizl family to cover every entry point into adventure gravel — carbon for performance-focused riders, aluminum for everyone who wants durability and affordability without giving up capability.
