Lucy entered triathlon after an elite swimming career. At 16, she won a national 5-kilometer  open-water title, and she reached the 800-meter freestyle final at the 2012 London Olympic  trials. She raced her first IRONMAN in 2014 and broke Kona’s 19-year-old swim course record four years later. She won her first IRONMAN 70.3 world title in 2021, became the World  Triathlon Long Distance champion in 2022 and won the IRONMAN World Championship in 2023.  She claimed her second IRONMAN 70.3 world title in 2025.
