There’s a version of a speed suit launch that reads like a spec sheet, and you need to decipher through the BS.
And then there’s what Castelli launched with the PR 3.
The Italian brand has been dressing elite triathletes since before most of us we’re racing. They introduced the first short-sleeved race top at Kona in 2013 and now, more than a decade later, the PR 3 Speed Suit is the next evolution of that lineage — and it’s built around a simple premise: design for how athletes actually race, and what matters the most.
What Changed and Why It Matters

The headline update is the sleeve. Castelli rebuilt the upper using an engineered ribbed fabric designed to manage airflow across the arms and shoulders in an aero position. All wind tunnel and real-world testing drove the decision, not aesthetics. Pros including Laura Philipp, Paula Findlay, and Rico Bogen had a hand in the feedback.
The upper portion of the suit uses a 50-denier fabric, the lightest Castelli has ever put in a triathlon suit. The goal is straightforward: keep you cool without creating drag. Through the torso and legs, the construction shifts to a gradient-stretch woven material borrowed from the Premio Evo bibshort, giving you the kind of support that matters on hour four of a 112-mile journey.
The Details
A rear pocket is streamlined to cut airflow disruption. A dedicated GPS pocket is positioned for access without compromising fit. There’s an internal neck pocket designed to hold ice which you’re seeing more and more these days. The KISS Tri Pad stays, offering bike support without locking up your stride on the run.
None of these are gimmicks and they’re the kind of features that matter in a suit that costs a premium.

Speaking of which — Castelli is also introducing PR Leg Sleeves for the first time. Designed to smooth airflow over the calf on the bike, they include a rear stretch panel that makes them actually usable in a race transition.
The Bottom Line
The PR 3 Speed Suit is priced at $450 USD. The PR Leg Sleeves run $85. Neither is cheap but Castelli has never been in the budget lane, and the PR 3 isn’t trying to be.
If you’re racing and chasing PRs, your kit is part of your performance equation, and this one deserves a look.
