POC just dropped a new helmet, and it’s not trying to be the fastest or the most ventilated thing in its lineup. From the look of it, it’s trying to be the most complete you can wear at any time.
The Amidal sits as a mid-range option between POC’s most aerodynamic and most ventilated models, with the focus squarely on overall balance and real-world riding experience.
The Build

The construction is straightforward: a polycarbonate outer shell paired with an optimized EPS liner keeps structural rigidity and weight in careful balance. Air is captured at the front vents and directed through linear internal channels, intended to support airflow during both long climbs and race-pace efforts — a claim POC backed with CFD testing across multiple speeds.
On the fit side, a 360-degree retention system distributes pressure evenly around the head, and the chin straps are fully adjustable in all directions for a personalized fit. There’s also an eye garage built in for stashing sunglasses mid-ride.
Safety
The Amidal runs Mips Air Node, the latest generation of the Mips system, allowing the helmet to move independently of the head during an oblique impact.
POC also designed it to meet the upcoming updated EN 1078 rotational impact standards before they’re even mandatory, so it’s already ahead of where the industry is heading.
Rear Light is the Key Feature
If you know us at all, the headline feature is the rear light. Every helmet should have this option.
In collaboration with Knog, POC developed a dedicated rear light mount that positions visibility at the highest point of the cyclist — a meaningful upgrade over seat post or saddle-mounted lights.
The Knog light uses COB technology for 30 lumens of output, with four modes and up to 26 hours of battery life in eco flash mode.
It’s sold separately for $45 and works with other POC helmets too.
The Amidal costs $270 USD and weighs 310g in a medium (EU standard) and 350g in a medium (US standard).
It’s available now at poc.com.
