Finally. All the Gear & Nutrition for The Rut 50K

On Sunday, Anthony competes in the hardest 50K in the country, with 11K feet of elevation. Here’s all the gear & nutrition he’ll use.

About This Episode

Time is ticking and we’re just a few days out from The Rut 50K.

Anthony opens the episode with an easy 1-hour trail run — part of the taper before race day. From there, it’s a full sit-down review of everything he’s been using in training, and everything that’s making the trip to Big Sky.

On the fueling side, its going to be a lot of carbs! Stryker 50g bars, Precision 30g gels, and LMNT electrolytes — plus his two “secret weapons,” Xendurance Extreme Endurance tablets and Amacx Beet Shots.

For apparel and gear; it all come sdown to the weather which could be rain and even snow. The North Face Summit Series shirt and shorts, an On Performance Waterproof running jacket for whatever the mountain weather decides to throw at him, a Territory Run Co hat, Leki trail running poles, and his Salomon vest carrying it all.

And the biggest call of the day — the shoe decision. Anthony talks The North Face Offtrail Ultra vs. the Hoka Speedgoat 7. Only one is making the start line.

Follow along & cheer on Anthony as he heads to Big Sky.
