lululemon and Artist, Geoff McFetridge Team to ‘Amplify the Quiet’

The Canadian artist and ultrarunner brings his work to the brands ‘Fast and Free’ lifestyle range.

We’ve never heard of Geoff McFetridge, but his stuff looks legendary.

So its pretty dope that lululemon’s latest limited-edition collaboration is a run-first capsule with an artist who actually runs.

Geoff McFetridge is a Los Angeles-based Canadian artist, designer, and ultrarunner, behind Amplify the Quiet, a run and lifestyle collection that is now live.

What Is Amplify the Quiet?

The collection pairs McFetridge’s artwork with lululemon’s technical run essentials and everyday lifestyle pieces, built to move between city streets and trails.

The theme is mindful performance and the whole idea is that movement can quiet distractions and deepen your connection to yourself and your surroundings.

A bit hippie but I like the sentiment, especially in our life, when it feels out of control is best fixed with a good long run.

The artwork shows runners blending into nature.

McFetridge describes the feeling it’s meant to capture: the moment in a run when you start to lose yourself and become part of the landscape. Anyone who’s hit that point deep into a long trail day knows exactly what he means.

The Gear

The capsule pulls from lululemon’s existing franchises, including Fast and Free, which McFetridge calls his go-to run line.

His take on it is refreshingly practical. Something you can wear around town or on the streets. It’s refined, technical, and simple.

That’s what most of us want. Good running gear should make running easier, not give you more to think about and move around.

Across the collection, lululemon is leaning on three things:

  • Nulux. lululemon’s proprietary technical fabric
  • Streamlined Fits. Cut to stay put
  • Integrated Storage. Carry what you need

The stated goal is gear that disappears on the body so you stay focused on the run and its a claim as old as running itself. Every brand makes this claim, so we’ll have to see if it is actually true. We haven’t put this collection through its paces yet, or even touched it, but if we do, we’ll talk about it.

The range covers Men’s, Women’s, and Accessories.

Our Thoughts

Brand collabs in running often mean a colorway and a logo, or something pretty surface level. I like that this at least starts with a collaborator who spends real time on trails and say puts his creative energy into the act of movement. Doing some research, McFetridge is known for fine lines, bold colors, and simple, repeating forms, which should translate well to apparel designed to blend into a landscape and again, this is lululemon. People will eat this stuff up.

Where to Buy

The lululemon x Geoff McFetridge collection is available globally at lululemon.com and in select lululemon stores across North America, Asia-Pacific, China, and Europe.

It’s a limited-edition drop, so if something catches your eye, don’t wait around.
