ENVE says the new G SES are the ‘fastest gravel wheels ever built’

ENVE claims anywhere between 8 – 25 watts saved

Gravel racing has a new performance benchmark and that’s because ENVE just launched the G SES line which includes three carbon wheelsets the brand is calling the fastest gravel wheels ever built. A bold claim from a brand that says all their new wheelsets are the fastest, ever. But seriously, they’re impressive.

The G SES lineup was developed using the same design philosophy that powers ENVE’s Tour de France-winning road wheels. Add in the fact that they took real-world feedback from UCI World Gravel Series events and the Gravel World Championships to shape the final product and that’s what we call race proven.

Three Models, One Direction

The range starts with the flagship G SES 6.7 PRO — ENVE’s answer to a pure aero gravel wheel. It runs asymmetric rim depths (60mm front, 67mm rear) and a wide 35mm internal rim width, signaling clearly that ENVE is designing around the 44–52mm tires now dominating the sport. And wind tunnel data backs it up: at 32kph, ENVE claims the 6.7 PRO delivers 8 watts of savings over a baseline wheel, climbing to 25 watts at 48kph. For racing, that adds up. The wheelset weighs in at 1,580g and retails at $3,100.

For riders who want aero performance without committing to an ultra deep wheel, the G SES 4.5 PRO splits the difference. At 49/55mm depths and a 30mm internal width, it’s the lightest option in the lineup at 1,480g, saving about 100 grams over the 6.7 PRO, while still delivering aerodynamic gains across mixed terrain. It also runs the Innerdrive PRO hub with ceramic bearings and comes in at the same $3,100 price point. Less depth, lighter, but same price.

Rounding out the line is the G SES 4.5, which shares the same rim profile as the PRO version but steps down to an Innerdrive Premium hub and Sapim CX-Ray spokes. The result is a 1,565g wheelset priced at $2,800 making it still in that premium territory, but positioned as the more accessible entry into the G SES system.

The Tech Involved

All three models use ENVE’s Wide Hookless Bead technology, borrowed from their mountain bike lineup. The system creates a wider, more blunt leading edge on the rim bed that better absorbs trail impacts and reduces the risk of pinch flats which is every gravel riders nightmare fuel.

The front-rear asymmetric rim design is also worth touching on as ENVE applies different rim shapes to each wheel to account for the different airflow dynamics in the front versus rear. It’s a detail borrowed directly from their road program that translates well to gravel, where aerodynamic consistency matters.

The Bottom Line

The G SES line isn’t for the athlete who wants an all-conditions, do-it-all wheelset. It’s built for riders who want to go fast on gravel and want to run wide tire setups, which is basically all of us. The 6.7 PRO is the aero weapon; the 4.5 options are the versatile racers. It’s a pick your poison situation here. Do you like deeper or not so deep wheels?

At $2,800–$3,100, these aren’t casual purchases. But if you’re racing events like Unbound, SBT GRVL, or any UCI gravel series race, the engineering investment ENVE put into this line is evident and will be relevant for years to come.
